5. I am unable to view the exam questions.

Check if you have checked boxes I and II on the moodle-exam course and whether the exam time has already begun. If these requirements are met, contact the instructor.

6. I can't download the file with the assignment instructions for the Assignment activity.

Are there Confirmation I and II that must be read and checked off first? If so, you will only be able to access the Assignment activity after doing so. If this does not resolve the issue, please contact your instructor.

7. I can't edit a downloaded Word file (read-only).

When you open a Word file, a small message box appears. In this box, you can click Enable Editing. If you simply click away from this message, you will not be able to edit the document. In this case, you should restart Word.

8. Problems (long loading times, memory issues, etc.) occur when using Word.

Restart your device. If the problems persist, you may want to use a different text editor. Make sure the format of the edited file is accepted when you upload it.

9. The drop-down list does not work for the Matching question type.

This problem can occur, for example, in the Chrome browser. Click the question icon and use the arrow keys to select from the drop-down menu.

10. File uploads aren't working.

There could be several reasons for this. Has the submission deadline passed? Is the file format correct? If you’re using a scanning app, please check to make sure you’ve actually created a PDF and selected it (it’s usually saved on your smartphone under [Username] > Documents > Office Lens). Alternatively, instead of dragging and dropping the file into the corresponding field, use the file browser.

The instructor has specified which file types are accepted for submission. If you cannot find any information about the file type in the assignment instructions, please contact the instructor.

12. What is the maximum size for an uploaded file?

The maximum file size that can be uploaded for the Assignment activity is set to 250 MB by default. However, the instructor may further limit this size. Therefore, please check with the instructor in charge of your exam.

13. Do the solution files have to be uploaded within the exam time limit , or is there additional time provided afterward?

Be sure to upload the files within the time limit. Sometimes, a technical time buffer (depending on your department and instructor) is already added to the standard exam time.

14. Can I also submit my (late) assignment via email?

Please check with your instructor. Under no circumstances should you send exam papers to elearning@hs-niederrhein.de or other university email addresses unless you have been asked to do so.

15. The browser closed or the computer shut down. To what extent were my entries saved?

For the Test activity, the system automatically saves your work after each page change. For the Assignment activity, this depends on the software used to complete the assignment. In Word, students must configure the settings themselves to determine whether and how often automatic saving occurs.

16. Is there anything else I need to keep in mind after completing the exam question?

Exam preparation courses often use what is known as completion tracking. Once a question has been answered, a green box appears next to it with a ‘checkmark’ and the label completed. In some cases, this may take up to one minute after the end of the time limit.
